What was dismissed as conspiratorial mere weeks ago, (Obamagate); is now documented fact as “Newly released notes confirm President Barack Obama’s key role in surveillance and leak operation against Michael Flynn, the incoming Trump administration national security adviser.” per a report by the Federalist.
Former FBI agent Peter Strzok’s handwritten notes recall a January 2017 office meeting between the then president, the then Vice President, James Comey, Sally Yates, and then-national security adviser Susan Rice. “Make sure you look at things and have the right people on it,” Obama is quoted as stating in Strzok’s notes.
This news serves as a boon to the Trump administration and campaign as Trump’s rival for the presidency, Joe Biden, does not come out of this unscathed. Not only was he present at that 2017 meeting; per the Federalist, “According to Strzok’s notes, Biden explicitly referenced the Logan Act, an 18th-century law that forbids certain political speech from private citizens.”
Additionally, Biden has previously denied having any knowledge of the investigation into Flynn; clearly a lie and an attempted cover up. “I know nothing about those moves to investigate Michael Flynn,” Biden said on ABC’s “Good Morning America” when George Stephanopoulos asked what he knew of the FBI’s operations in early 2017. He later admitted that statement was false.” [The Federalist]
Last month in response to the news that the charges against Michael Flynn had been dropped, Obama stated: “The news over the last 24 hours I think has been somewhat downplayed — about the Justice Department dropping charges against Michael Flynn; and the fact that there is no precedent that anybody can find for someone who has been charged with perjury just getting off scot-free. That’s the kind of stuff where you begin to get worried that basic — not just institutional norms — but our basic understanding of rule of law is at risk. And when you start moving in those directions, it can accelerate pretty quickly as we’ve seen in other places.”
As we reported at the time Obama was “aware of the details of then-incoming national security adviser Michael Flynn’s intercepted December 2016 phone calls with then-Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak, apparently surprising then-Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates, according to documents released.”
But there’s a big difference between awareness and directing.
Time will tell if this revelation affects the election in November at all; or whether Biden is allowed to be the Democrat presidential nominee. Obamagate has already done serious damage to Biden, despite the media’s efforts to dismiss its significance. The question is, will Obama be brought before the courts to face justice? Will Obamagate be brought to its logical conclusion?
