Calls For Stricter Gun Laws After Glendale Shooting. Armando Junior Hernandez Identified As Shooter. Police Yet to Confirm.

Three people were shot at an Arizona outdoor mall Wednesday night, the Glendale Police Department confirmed. One suspect is currently in custody, as reported by ABC News.

The report adds that the incident took place just before 7:25 p.m. local time at the Westgate Entertainment District in Glendale, just outside Phoenix and that all three victims of the shooting are expected to survive.

Curiously, “when police arrived at the mall, the scene was no longer active, according to Glendale Police Department Public Information Officer Tiffany Ngalula. Officers said they located the suspect and took him into custody without further incident.”

An NBC affiliate reports that “The suspect’s mother identified her son Armando Hernandez from Peoria, 20, as the shooter, but police have not verified this.”

Also of note, is that State Senator Martín Quezada said he happened to be at the mall and witnessed the attack. He tweeted: “I just witnessed an armed terrorist with an AR-15 shoot up Westgate. There are multiple victims. I saw 2 victims with my own eyes,” Quezada added. “Not sure how many others I saw the shooter. Being told not to say anything else about details ’til I speak to police. I’m ok. Lots of shaken up people.”

Which brings us to the early fallout. As is the norm, after every shooting (although this one can hardly be classified as a mass shooting), the call for gun restrictions become deafening.

One Twitter hack wrote: “The next asshole who says guns aren’t the problem needs to explain how any other legal weapon has the ability to end 600 lives in 60 seconds or less. #WestgateShooting“; eventhough three were reportedly shot in this latest shooting, and none have died. Talk about hyperbole.

“There is absolutely no reason for any civilian in the United States of America to own an AR-15. No. Reason.” wrote another. And this one tweeted: “waking up and seeing #WestgateShooting has taken away any skepticism or doubt that i had, I think it’s clear, mass shootings are as american as apple pie and football an america without them is impossible because no one in power really wants to change anything till it hits them”.

No doubt it won’t be long before the same old left wing politicians, issue yet another call for a ban on assault rifles.
