“In any serious crisis, civil rights are also in grave danger. And with COVID-19 sweeping the country, some politicians have seized on the pandemic as an opportunity to restrict access to abortion. A handful of Republican-led states—including Indiana, Ohio, Iowa, Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama, and Mississippi—have sought to effectively ban abortion, claiming that it is a “nonessential” procedure.“
The above opening paragraph from a Vanity Fair article by Abigail Tracy, is a pint-sized sample of just how rabid so-called ‘pro-choicers’ are in their unsolicited desire to, “protect the civil rights of mankind” or ‘people-kind’ (as a certain Canadian Prime Minister would say); particularly the civil right to spill the blood of the unborn, more widely known as ‘a woman’s right to choose’.
“Choose what exactly?” Note how vague it all is, how they tend never to specify what the choice is.
‘A woman’s right to choose..’ is a message most can get behind. A woman’s right to choose murdering her own unborn baby however, is something only the radical fringe would openly support. Which is probably why, it’s seldom, if ever explicitly stated.
Anyway, interviewed by Tracy in her referenced Vanity Fair propaganda piece was none other than Alexis McGill Johnson, Acting President and CEO of Planned Parenthood Federation of America and the Planned Parenthood Action Fund. You see, McGill Johnson was desperate to have a whinge about Texas Governor Greg Abbott and his merry band of (sexist?) governors from Indiana, Ohio, Iowa, Oklahoma, Alabama, and Mississippi. Their crime against ‘people-kind?’ “Abbott and governors of other states have banned elective medical procedures, including abortions, in order to preserve personal protective equipment (PPE) for healthcare workers caring for victims of the infection caused by the novel coronavirus.” (Breitbart)
Of course, McGill saw it differently. She told Vanity Fair: “These are the same folks who refuse to expand Medicaid. These are the same folks who supported forcing organizations like Planned Parenthood out of Title X. You have to connect the dots here. This is a moment where the pandemic is being used as cover to really push a horrible political agenda around abortion.”
“I think what’s really important here to understand”, she continues, “is that there is no other form of health care that’s being targeted in this way, only abortion. When we see these bans, these specific attacks on abortion providers, it’s really important to look at it in a context of how other health care providers are being treated. And you can see that we’re being singled out.”
Of course it’s nothing new to hear liberal fanatics complain that the entire system is rigged against them, even though Roe v Wade for instance, went in their favour and they’ve gotten to slaughter millions of unborn infants legally, (with a wink and a nod from the U.S. Supreme Court), for decades.
Case in point per this Breitbart report: “Planned Parenthood has filed lawsuits against states such as Ohio, Texas, Iowa, and Oklahoma that have banned all non-essential surgeries as a means to save personal protective equipment (PPE) for hospital workers caring for patients infected with the coronavirus.” So it’s not as if the people at Planned Parenthood are such victims, are they.
McGill Johnson even went so far as to say the governors are “using the pandemic and the banning of nonessential services broadly, under the guise of protecting people—the more people who are able to shelter in place allows people to not be exposed. They’re using a framework around abortion not being essential as a way of kind of further mandating people staying in place,” (Vanity Fair)
Plus she tweeted this ‘gem’: “Politicians have been trying to ban abortion and attack our reproductive rights for decades. Now, they see #COVID19 as an opening to push the same political agenda they have been for years.”
Yes, in our topsy-turvy world, where right is wrong and wrong is right, the term ‘reproductive rights’, does not mean the right to carry your child to term; like say in China for example, where a woman isn’t allowed to do so if she’s already had one. No. That’s not what ‘reproductive rights’ means to abortion advocates. What that term means, according to McGill Johnson, is the right not to reproduce. Total insanity!
ACOG, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, per Breitbart, put out this statement in mid-March: “Abortion is an essential component of comprehensive health care. It is also a time-sensitive service for which a delay of several weeks, or in some cases days, may increase the risks or potentially make it completely inaccessible. The consequences of being unable to obtain an abortion profoundly impact a person’s life, health, and well-being.”
So essential is abortion to Planned Parenthood that, as Dr. Christina Francis, chair of the board of the American Association of Prolife OB/GYN’s (AAPLOG) points out, “many of their clinics have shut down all services except for abortion at this time.”
“If they were truly concerned about women’s health,” Francis posited, “they would be providing those other services and not doing abortions. Abortion proponents continuously assert that abortion is essential women’s healthcare, when, in fact, it is neither essential nor healthcare.”
Francis added about Planned Parenthood, that it “has proven time and time again that its sole focus is abortion, not women’s healthcare.”
Francis also debunks McGill Johnson’s specious assertion that abortion is being singled out by the governors. “Elective surgeries and procedures across the country are being postponed indefinitely – and this even includes some surgeries for cancer, joint replacements in people living with debilitating pain, life transforming reconstructive surgeries, and the list goes on and on. Yet Ms. Johnson dares to assert that an elective procedure that ends the life of one human being and harms the other is more essential than these (not to mention the fact that women are being packed into Planned Parenthood waiting rooms in direct defiance of social distancing orders)? In doing so, she shows her true priority – the financial health of Planned Parenthood over the physical and mental health of its clients.”
Unfortunately, the misconception– widely disseminated by Planned Parenthood and others– is that without abortion (the deliberate termination of an unborn infant in the womb), the impact on a woman’s life, health and well-being would be profound. A matter of life and death even.
As Dr. Ingrid Skop, a practicing OB/GYN for two decades and an AAPLOG board member puts it: “Elective abortion is a procedure that ends the life of a healthy, living human being in utero. It has never been proven to benefit a woman’s health in any way, which is the goal of health care.” (Breitbart)
Unborn babies are not a threat to their mothers; they’re not some sort of monster out to drain all life from their mums; (unlike rapists and murderers, whose ‘rights’ are savagely defended by activists like McGill Johnson and others). What unborn babies are, are a socio-economic inconvenience. As Ingrid Skop puts it: “Because pregnancy is a natural biological process, elective abortion is not treating a disease process. It is, rather, a social solution.”
