Today, the U.S. celebrates Columbus Day, a tradition spanning over 100 years. However, recently, in light of the defacement of the statues of any historical figure, who has been deemed a ‘racist’ by this generation’s version of leftists, the N.Y.P.D. saw it fit to provide 24/7 protection of Columbus’ statue.
As reported by PJ Media “Violent left-wing anarchists have announced a nationwide campaign to deface Christopher Columbus statues this coming Monday. Five Christopher Columbus statues have already been vandalized in New York City in recent weeks, according to Far Left Watch. In one case last month, vandals defaced a “larger-than-life” statue of Columbus in Central Park, leaving blood-red paint on his hands, and scrawled, “Hate will not be tolerated” and “#SomethingsComing” on its pedestal.”
The New York Post cites a source from law enforcement explaining why this move was necessary. “The statue has been there for years and years [since 1892] without any issues…Now because everybody’s complaining about Columbus, and they attacked him with paint, we have to put cops on there to make sure nobody does it anymore,”
The fact that these protests are all controlled and directed by powers behind the scenes is quite apparent; as it’s only certain historical figures who have been subject to being labeled racist and their statues defaced. Never mind the fact that the term ‘racist’ was coined in the 20th century, five centuries after Columbus died, meaning he was at least 500 years removed from even knowing what the term means.
However figures such as Karl Marx have hitherto escaped the wrath of these protesters or rather their handlers. Marx in speaking about the loss of California, describes Mexicans as lazy. “Is it a misfortune that magnificent California was seized from the lazy Mexicans who did not know what to do with it?” Of course, nationwide calls to deface Karl Marx statues have yet to surface. Remember the reaction to what then candidate Donald Trump said about Mexicans?
It’s clear therefore that these calls to deface the statues of certain historical figures, on the basis of their ‘racism’, is purely politically motivated and the protesters have no interest in defending ‘race rights’. If they did, then historical figures such as Karl Marx, who are idolized by these protesters, would be roundly condemned for their ‘racism’ and their statues would be the subject of a defacement campaign as well.
